The car rental people arrived and we took off for the west coast beaches. Our first stop was the Anchor in Memory of All Seamen.
Next we went to Rodgers Beach nearby. I snorkeled, but the water was not that clear and the fish were not that many or very interesting. It was not crowded and we did get a shelter from the sun.
From there we went to Baby Beach. It was crowded. We both snorkeled. There were fish, but not as colorful as we had last winter.
Donkeys at Baby Beach
The landscape of southern Aruba is full of cacti.
We went to Zeerover for fresh fish.
You decide if you want shrimp or fish. They fry it for you. Today the fish was a choice of red snapper or barracuda.
We chose barracuda. Then you pay according to the weight and the price per pound. You can add French fries, cornbread, tartar sauce, plantain, or onions in vinegar. We only added French fries and cornbread. The cornbread is really like a pancake! We had read from some reviews of Zeerovers, that the shrimp is delivered to the table with its head and all its many appendages still securely attached. One review said it tasted a bit sandy, also. We decided not to try that. You pay for your drink at the second window. Soda in a can was only $1! Our meal for 2 came to $13. That is the best deal we have found.
